Applying to DUT
DUT application questions
You apply to Durban University of Technology through the Central Applications Office (CAO) at cao.ac.za, where one application and one fee cover up to six KZN programmes. Create your applicant profile, add your programme, upload your documents, pay the fee, and submit before the closing date. See our DUT online application guide for the full steps.
DUT charges an application fee of R250. You pay the institution on its official portal - AskSmarty never takes payment. Late applications can cost more.
It depends on the programme. DUT uses the standard APS for most programmes. Each DUT programme page shows its required score or entry requirements - use the calculator to work out your APS first.
Log in to the portal you applied through and open your application status. See our DUT status-check guide for the exact steps and the official login link. Never share your login or pay anyone to "release" an offer.
It depends on the programme and the cycle. Check the deadline tracker for DUT programmes still showing open, and always confirm the current closing date on the official site before you rely on it.
AskSmarty is an independent national guide - not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by DUT or the CAO. Facts are drawn from the official prospectus and confirmed against the institution’s site. Always confirm details on the official source before applying.
