Check your DUT application status

You check your Durban University of Technology status on the CAO status portal, using the login you created when you applied. Here is how to do it, and what your status actually means.

Go to the official status login
    01

Go to the CAO status portal

Open www.cao.ac.za and log in with the username and reference number you created when you applied to DUT.

    02

    Open your application

Find your current application for this cycle. Your status shows whether it is received, under review, or finalised.

    03

    Read your status carefully

A provisional or conditional offer depends on your final results; a firm offer is unconditional. Note any documents the institution still needs from you.

    04

    Respond before the deadline

If you receive an offer, accept (or decline) it before the acceptance deadline shown - offers can lapse if you do not respond in time, freeing your space for someone else.

Beware of scams. Your status is only on the official portal. No legitimate body asks for payment to “release” an offer or guarantee a space. AskSmarty never takes payment and never asks for your portal login.

Common questions

On the CAO status portal at www.cao.ac.za, using the login you created when you applied. AskSmarty links to the official portal but cannot look up your status for you - never share your login with anyone.
A conditional (provisional) offer depends on you meeting a requirement, usually your final results. A firm offer is unconditional. Always check exactly what a conditional offer is waiting on.
Application review takes time, especially near deadlines. Make sure all required documents are uploaded, then check back. Contact DUT directly through the official portal if it stays unchanged well past the published timelines. AskSmarty never invents timelines.
